Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She's also a seasoned public speaker. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, comments and an analysis of portrayals in popular cultures. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer who has won accolades for her work. She is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which investigates representations of women in narratives from popular culture. Alongside working to highlight the problems surrounding the targeted and sexist assaults on women and others of minority groups in the online world, she is committed to breaking down stereotypes that are prevalent in popular culture. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in the field of political and social thought from York University. As a public speaker, she's well-known and has given talks at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Inquiring about gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while studying at the University. This ambitious woman planned to launch an internet series on gender representation in games, but was the target of an online harassment campaign. Her determination was not slowed by the harassment, actually, it just reinforced her determination to be feminist and media critic. She has won numerous awards in recognition of her many notable contributions to the field of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winner for her media criticism and is the co-founder of Feminist Frequency an educational nonprofit that explores the representations of women in popular culture narratives.
